What to Expect

  • Night 1: All kids, whether they are pre-registered or walk-ups, will need to be checked-in at the registration area to get their t-shirts and allergy bracelet (if applicable). Pre-registered kids will fly right through the line, and walk-ups will have to fill out a registration form upon arrival. The registration area is where kids can enter the “I Brought Food” and/or “I Brought A Friend” drawings, if they bring non-perishable food or a friend.

Nights 2-4: If your child already has their t-shirt, they do not have to go through the registration area again! They can head right to their team when they arrive! Check in at registration if you have non-perishable food items or if you brought a friend to put your name in the drawing.

  • Team time happens at the beginning of the night! During this time the children get to know each other and their coaches by creatively coming up with team names and cheers, making crafts, and participating in other fun get-to-know you games.

  • Worship Celebration: Each year at WNU the kids are introduced to songs that we use to praise and worship Jesus! They hear these songs multiple times throughout the 4 days and by the end of the week, they are fan favorites to sing and dance to!

Good Book Look: There is an overarching theme that will be taught the kids during the course of the 4 days of WNU. Each night a different teacher will present on one part of that theme. Our favorite night is night 3, as this is when the kids will hear and have a chance to respond to the Gospel message -- the life-changing news about how Jesus died for us!

Skits: What would WNU be without a little bit of silliness? Each night the kids will get to see a skit that reinforces the teachings.

Small Group Response Time: During this time, the kids get to listen to God’s voice, or talk to Him about the things they have just heard during the Good Book Look. Kids will have the opportunity to answer questions about what they just heard from their small group leaders. They can also use this time to talk about any questions that they might have.

  • Pie or Surprise: Kids will have the opportunity to get “pied” or “surprised” if their name is chosen.

Messy games: This is another chance for the teams to bond by getting wet and messy (getting messy is optional for both coaches and kids). It is always fun to get your coaches dirty, right?! Some games are: Pork n Beans, Fluff Fling, Monkey Business, Sponge Bottom Wet Pants, and Splash Ball.

Slip-n-slides: Slide coated with YUK that will make the kids fly right down. Definitely a fan-favorite activity to wrap up each night!

  • WNU ends at 8:30pm. The children must be picked up from their teams in the field (look for your child’s team color!). We do not allow the children to go and find their parent/ride in an effort to keep them safe. We recommend that you bring an old towel (or a garbage bag!) to cover your kids for the ride home.

FAQs

  • What is Wize 'N Up?

Wize 'N Up is an exciting four days of learning about God and important values in a fun and wacky way! Each night starts off with team time, energy-packed music, and Bible teaching. Then the kids head outside for some wild and messy team games!

  • What does my child need to bring with them?

Themselves! Please have your child wear their same WNU t-shirt all week (yes, washing will be necessary each night -- trust us. Have your child wear old clothes and shoes. We suggest that when you pick up your child at the end of the evening, you bring along an old towel to wrap them in. it may even be wise for them to wear a swimsuit under their clothes each night.

  • Does my child need to be pre-registered?

Nope! But by registering your child ahead of time, we can have them placed on a team, a t-shirt set aside for them, and have them on a team roster prior to their arrival at WNU. It is extremely helpful for kids to be pre-registered so we can quickly receive the quantity of children that come through our doors.

Walk ups are welcome! This event is FREE.

  • What if my child has an allergy?

If your child has allergies of any kind, please be sure to note that on their registration form. All children who have allergies receive a neon bracelet so everyone can be aware of what to watch out for. The messy games at the end of the night do involve food and water. We want to keep all kids safe, and without their allergy information, we cannot do that to the best of our ability. Thank you for helping us keep your child safe.

  • If my child has an allergic reaction, will you administer their EpiPen?

For those children who require an EpiPen, we can’t hold or administer the EpiPen. We will have small backpacks available if your child knows how to administer the treatment themselves. They can carry the bag along with them everywhere they go. If they need you to administer it, we would need a guardian to stay on the grounds during WNU.

  • Can you explain about the non-perishable food donations?

This year we will collect non-perishable food for a local food pantry called Total Ministries -- just one way to give back to the community! When kids bring in non-perishable food, they get to enter into a drawing. One name is drawn every night at WNU (the kids win a HUGE bag of candy). Kids can bring non-perishables each night to be entered multiple nights!

  • What exactly happens each night at WNU?

The kids will start each night outside. They will participate in team activities to get to know one another and their coaches! Next, they will head inside for music and teaching! To wrap-up the evening, we will head outside for fun and messy games. And we save the best for last -- the kids get to hit the slip-n-slide before they are released from their teams to their parent’s care.

  • What time is pick up?

WNU ends at 8:30pm each night. You will need to pick your child up from their teams in the field (look for your child’s team color!). Kids will not be allowed to go and find their parent/ride, in an effort to keep them safe. Thank you for your help in this.
